After light drizzle, winter is coming for Mumbaikars
According to the scientists at Skymet Weather, the temperature is likely to drop further in coming days.
Mumbai: After a month of dry weather, parts of the city witnessed light rains on Monday. According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, the city will see a few more isolated showers in the coming days.
The IMD stated that the current weather condition could be attributed to the cyclonic circulation over north Karnataka and a trough of low mean sea level running from Maldives area to the southeast Arabian Sea off the north Karnataka coast, extending to Konkan area. K.S. Hosalikar, deputy director general, Regional Meteorological Centre Mumbai stated that the two weather conditions have resulted in cloudy overcast in the city. Light showers are expected in coming 2-3 days.
According to the scientists at Skymet Weather, the temperature is likely to drop further in coming days. “Though there will be light rains at the isolated places of Mumbai, the humidity will not increase in Mumbai, in fact in coming days the temperatures are likely to drop by 2-3 degrees. The northerly winds have been blowing over Northern Maharashtra since last three days. The maximum and minimum temperatures have dropped due to the cold winds. We can expect the arrival of winter next week,” said Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist, Skymet Weather. The city’s temperature was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius on Monday.
According to aviation department of the IMD, though the sky was partly clouded, there was no effect on flights towards and from the city. “We are not expecting any change in the flight schedule as of now,” said an Airport Authority of India(AAI) official.
