BMC polls: NCP leader quits party on voting day
A party worker said, While other political parties were spending money to support their candidates, Sadadekar hardly got any funds."
Mumbai: The National Congress Party (NCP) candidate Mr. Madhusudan Sadadekar, who was contesting from electoral ward number 68 – quit on the day of voting. This could be a big blow to the party, which was contesting in only 171 seats.
He resigned from the party’s post of taluka president and also quit the party on Tuesday. According to officials, Mr. Sadadekar claimed he resigned from the party as he did not get support from leadership during election campaign. The NCP candidate was contesting against former leader of opposition in the municipality and Shiv Sena’s Devendra Ambekar, Rohan Rathod of BJP, Sachin Talekar of MNS and Indrapal Singh of Congress.
Speaking to The Asian Age, Mr Sadadekar, who was with the NCP for fifteen years said, “I didn’t get the support that I was looking for from the party leadership. So I resigned after the voting got over.” The electoral ward number 68 comes under K/West ward that consists of posh areas like Seven Bungalows, Four Bungalows, Lokhandwala, RTO, DN Nagar. The cadre of other political parties agreed with Mr. Sadadekar’s claims. A party worker said, “While other political parties were spending money to support their candidates, Sadadekar hardly got any funds.
