Worli, Bandra units of anti-narcotics cell arrest 11 for consuming drugs

Mumbai; The Worli and Bandra units of the anti-narcotics cell (ANC) arrested 11 persons for the consumption of narcotics including ganja (cannabis) on Thursday. Further investigation is underway to find out the source from where the accused acquired this material, according to ANC sources.
According to police officials, the accused are residents of Worli and Bandra. They used to acquire ganja and gard powder from their respective peddlers and meet at a dilapidated closed beat chowki of a principal commissioner of custom excise. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ANC’s DCP Shivdeep Lande.
An ANC source said, “Acting on a tip-off we formed teams and accordingly conducted raids. We found 11 people consuming drugs. Our team immediately arrested the accused and seized all the material.”
The source further added, “We have registered a consumption case under section 8 (c) 27 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985. We are searching for the peddlers who are allegedly involved in the selling the drugs to the accused. We are interrogating the accused and soon will arrest the other culprits.”
The arrested accused have identified as Karan Bahadur Padmasingh Kuwar, Daan Bahadur Shriramgarib Prajapati, Suraj Shantaram Bhogle, Dipak Shivsingh Wadkar, Raju Bapu Yadav, Ashok Munnalal Kushwaji, Manohar Vasudev Sawant, Salman Firoj Shaikh, Kailas Hariram Saahu, Eainul Hasan Abul Hasan Shaikh, Amber Pravin Boricha.
