Mumbai: A man lost his life and another was injured after a Saturday night party in Mira Road ended with a brawl among drunken men who were construction workers. The assailant, identified as Kamlesh Chaurasiya (31), was arrested a couple of hours after the crime, while his co-accomplice and brother Ashok is still at large.

According to the police, the incident was reported from a ground in the Sheetal Nagar area of Mira Road at about 10.30 pm on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Rajan Meshram (33), a native of a remote village in Amravati who did odd jobs at local construction sites in the twin-city.

Rajan and another construction worker, identified as Biru, were brutally assaulted by the Chaurasiya brothers following a petty quarrel over liquor during a binge session. While Rajan died on the spot, Biru sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. “Based on the information provided by an eye witness, our police personnel apprehended Kamlesh,” said inspector.
