Bigg Boss Marathi contestant arrested

Mumbai: The Satara police arrested Abhijeet Bichukale, a contestant of television show Bigg Boss Marathi season 2 from the sets of the reality show on Thursday. The contestant was arrested in connection with a cheque bouncing case.

A team of Satara police, assisted by officials of Aarey Colony police station, landed on the sets of Bigg Boss house in Goregaon and took Bichukale into custody on Friday.

The officials said that the Satara police registered the case soon after which they approached the court and secured an arrest warrant, which was executed by the police. Bichukale, a local politician from Satara, lost the recent election against Nationalist Congress Party’s Udyanraje Bhosale.

He was under fire for his insensitive comments pertaining to single mothers and divorcees after he ended up having an altercation with a woman contestant on the set of the television show. Action was demanded against Bichukale after he hurled abuses at the woman in the house where the show is being shot.

“The case was registered against Bichukale and he was arrested from the set. There was no resistance from his end during the arrest and he has been taken to Satara for further investigation in the case,” said an officer of Aarey Colony police station.

The contestant will be produced before the Satara Court on Saturday.and he will taken into custody for further investigation. The officials are in the process of recording his detailed statement in connection with the case that was registered by the complainant.
