Only 1.26 lakh TB patients listed in DBT scheme
The health minister, while speaking in the Legislative Assembly, said, 1,26,000 patients have been registered with the DBT scheme across the state.â€
Mumbai: State health minister Eknath Shinde on Friday informed that out of 2.26 lakh tuberculosis patients in Maharashtra, only 1.26 lakh were getting the benefit of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme.
The DBT scheme was rolled out for tuberculosis patients to provide cash incentives for additional nutritional support.
The number of drug resistant tuberculosis (DRTB) patients in the state is increasing with 2.26 lakh such patients in the state.
The health minister, while speaking in the Legislative Assembly, said, “1,26,000 patients have been registered with the DBT scheme across the state.”
The minister added, “Mumbai has 52,000 patients out of whom 18,000 patients have been listed with the DBT scheme.”
The government of India started the DBT scheme in 2018 to help TB patients recover from the disease faster. The scheme is designed in a way to curb the disease by the year 2025.
