Mumbai: A day before Bakri Id, the BMC has informed the high court that applicants will now have to attach society NOCs and address proofs while seeking online license to sacrifice goats on the occasion.
BMC counsel Anil Sakhre also informed the court that BMC officers will cross-check details while taking away goats from the Deonar abattoir.
The court then directed the BMC to file a compliance report after two weeks. Advocate Sakhre on Tuesday told the HC that the civic body had revised its online mechanism and made it more stringent.
“Henceforth, all applicants will be required to submit copies of valid identity cards and address proofs etc. to seek such permission,” he said.
Advocate Sakhre said that applicants will also have to comply with BMC conditions regarding slaughtering goats within a confined space and collection and disposal of waste.
So far, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has granted online permission for slaughtering 160,000 goats in the city this Bakri Id, he said.
