IB school rape case: Teacher arrested

The class teacher was picked up from the school.

Mumbai: The second accused was arrested on Tuesday in the case of the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl at an Andheri-based IB school. The second accused is a class teacher, who was arrested for allegedly escorting the minor to the accused director’s cabin, who is said to have raped her in November last year. Meghwadi police had arrested the director of the school on November 7, and during rigorous questioning, he had told the police about the role of the teacher. The class teacher was picked up from the school.

Navinchandra Reddy, deputy commissioner of police, zone 10 told The Asian Age, “The FIR was registered against the accused and the teacher, and after her role was clarified in the crime, we have arrested her to unveil all the details. Further investigation is underway.”

Advocate S. Balakrish-nan, who is fighting the case for the victim’s parent, said, “The arrests have taken place after a five-month-long struggle. An interventional application will be filed during the trial to ensure the conviction of the two accused under Indian Penal Code and POSCO Act. He has also demanded a proper inquiry into the sexual assault of a three-year-old boy in the same school.”
