Police to see if agency did background check on rapist' security guard
The victim, a resident of the Four Bungalows area in Andheri West, who was stabbed in the stomach twice, was rushed to Cooper Hospital.
Mumbai: A day after the security guard Raja Shebu was arrested by the Amboli police for attempting to rape a 50-year-old woman, the police is investigating whether the security agency that employed him had conducted a background check. The accused, who had come to the city from West Bengal, had got the job only three days ago and was directly sent to a building in Four Bungalows area.
The police officials said that they have sent the mobile phone of the accused for analysis to check whether there are any objectionable videos or photos in it. The police has also sent blood-stained knife and his clothes to Kalina Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
The police sources attached to Amboli police station said that the arrested accused, was working as a replacement for another security guard who was on leave for a few days.
Speaking to The Asian Age, senior police inspector of Amboli police station, Bharat Gaikwad said, “We are probing the case and will check if the security agency that hired the accused had conducted a background check on him. We are waiting for the results of the medical tests.”
