Mumbai: Two women were injured after a stampede-like situation broke out outside Lower Parel railway station around 7 pm on Monday.
The incident took place when a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) van was removing hawkers from a lane where commuters walk towards the station.
Assistant municipal commissioner Devendra Jain said, “The van makes its rounds outside the railway station every day to prevent hawkers from squatting there. But on Monday evening there was chaos and a few people took advantage of the situation and created a panic.”
“Some drops of boiling oil from a street vendor’s cart spilled on two women. They suffered minor injuries.
