Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) has decided to launch a mobile application (app) for Bombay Development Directorate (BDD) chawl residents soon.

The app will keep the residents in loop about redevelopment projects. New plans and changes will be uploaded and conveyed to the residents via this app. Mhada is the implementing agency for the redevelopment project.

“The app will act as a bridge between the residents and the Mhada. Residents will be updated about new developments. The app will educate them and also provide a platform for them to give their feedback to us. Thus, it will help in maintaining better communication during the course of the project. The app will be for everyone residing in such chawls across the three locations,” said a senior Mhada official.

He added, “Testing and final changes are being performed on the app and it will be available to  residents in the next one month.”

Girish Katwe, a tenant from BDD chawl of Worli, said the app development will be extremely helpful for residents.

“Newspapers and politicians were the only sources from where got get information about the project. Government officials have never made any attempt to convey project-related information to us,” said Mr Katwe.
