Police to probe leak of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha
The film, directed by Shree Narayan Singh, is a love story set against the backdrop of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Mumbai: Mumbai crime branch officials on Saturday started investigation into a leaked video of the yet-to-released Hindi film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. On Thursday two members from the producer’s team met the joint commissioner of police and lodged a complaint. The film, which stars Akshay Kumar, is set for a release on August 11. The actor has asked his fans to support him in the fight against piracy.
According to the police, a gym trainer from Lokhandwala showed the leaked movie to the film’s choreographer, who then brought it to the notice of the filmmakers. “We are finding out how this movie was leaked before its release. We are checking with the editing team and other crew members,” said an official.
Meanwhile, Akshay posted on Twitter: “The fight against piracy is critical and it’s reassuring to see the swift action taken by the crime branch on the unfortunate incident involving our film... I would like to urge my friends, colleagues, fans and audiences to please say no to piracy. Thank you all for support.”
The film, directed by Shree Narayan Singh, is a love story set against the backdrop of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. This film has already had a brush with controversy after some writers claimed that they had been working on the script since 2013 and are likely to file a defamation case.
