Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray called on the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) head Sharad Pawar raising speculations that the Opposition parties are planning to include his party into the fold.

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena Thursday reiterated that the entire Thackeray family supports MNS chief Raj Thackeray and that nothing would come out against him.

Shiv Sena leader and spokesperson Sanjay Raut said that party chief Uddhav Thackeray had already said that nothing would come out of the enquiry and that he, too, felt the same.

“A probe is a procedure; most of the time, people come out clean. We should look at the probe neutrally,” he said. Mr Raut said that the Sena chief, himself, was looking into the matter, and that he had already voiced his opinion on the matter Wednesday.

Uddhav Thackeray Wednesday said, “I don’t think anything will come out of the probe. Therefore, there should be no problem in waiting for the next two days.”

Mr Raut said that the Sena chief had spoken as Raj Thackeray’s brother. “There could be political differences but one had to play his role as the head of the family, he added.

The party, however, backed P. Chidambara-m’s arrest. The NCP, too, rallied behind the MNS leader and said that the government at the Centre and in the state was “throttling” democracy. Mr Raut said that there was enough evidence against the former Union minister.

Meanwhile, NCP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Dhananjay Munde, claimed that there was an “undeclared emergency” in the
country.
