Drunk driver hits vehicle, loses life
The police said that the accused was driving rashly and hit a car from the rear side.
Mumbai: The Kasturba Marg police booked a car driver for driving drunk and ramming into a car late night Saturday following which he died.
The police said that the accused was driving rashly and hit a car from the rear side. Later, he tried to flee from the wrong side and rammed into a divider. While the accused driver died later, two occupants of the other car sustained injuries in the accident.
The deceased, who was booked by the police, was identified as Ajit Argade (27), who was drunk when behind the wheels of his car bearing registration number MH01-CR-2868. The police said that Mr Argade was driving the vehicle at high speed near Anex Mall at Thakur Complex when he met with the accident. Mr Argade rammed his car into another car bearing registration number MH02-DS-4796 from the rear side.
“The collision took place at a very high speed which left two of the occupants injured. After the accident, Mr Argade overtook the car from the left side and lost control of the car only to ram it into the bridge a few metres ahead,” said an officer of Kasturba Marg police station.
Mr Argade sustained severe injuries himself and succumbed to them soon after.
