Mumbai: At a time when the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi – the new alliance of the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress – is all set to stake claim to form the government, former Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam on Friday once again warned his party of political instability and loss of face for the Congress.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee member Amit Shetty attacked Mr Nirupam saying that he is the very person responsible for the downfall of the Congress.

Mr Nirupam Friday tweeted in Hindi, “Hamare netaon ka tark hai ki BJP ko rokane ke liye ham Shiv Sena se hath milane ka jokhim utha rahe hain. Magar ‘teen tigade kam bigade’ vali sarkar chalegi kab tak? Fir ya to BJP kisi ke sath sarkar banayegi ya chunav honge. Donon hal men BJP ko fayada hoga. Aur nukasan hoga Congress ka (Sic).”

In English, Mr Nirupam’s tweet translated to, “Our leaders are saying that we are taking the risk of joining hands with the Sena to stop the BJP. But how long will this kind of government comprising three parties work? Later, either the BJP will form the government with somebody or there will be elections. In both situations, the BJP will benefit.”
