Headless body leaves Aarey police in a daze

Mumbai: The police on Thursday recovered a headless body of a male, from Aarey Milk colony farm in Goregaon. The head of the body was then recovered from an adjacent location. The body was identified as the body of Brender Gonsalves, a 23-year-old Goreagon resident.

An Aarey police officer told The Asian Age, “The body was identified by his family on Thursday evening.” The police has registered a murder case against unidentified persons and sent the body for autopsy to the civic-run Shatabdi hospital in Kandivali. According to the sources, a few objects were found around the spot that could be connected to human sacrifice rituals. When asked, however, none of the police officials offered any comment on this aspect, saying the “probe is on and the facts will come out”. The source also informed that the police is taking the statements of deceased's mother, relatives and friends to identify the cause of the murder.

According to the sources from Goregaon police station, the headless body was kept in sitting position in a pit, which is meant for mixing cow dung and water for supply in farm as compost. The clothes were also seized from the spot and they were lying at a distance from his naked body. A police official from the Goregaon police station, informed that, after they recovered the body they checked all the missing complaints to identify the deceased. During the matching process they realised that the face of the deceased matched with a missing complaint of 23-year-old Gonsalves.

According to the police, Gonsalves left from his home on Monday and he left his purse and mobile at home. When he didn't come back till late evening, his mother lodged a missing complaint in Dindoshi police station. However, the inquiry on this case is still being done by the police.
