Municipal body examines schools' SSC preparations
The civic body's education department has assigned all the beat officers and administrative officers to every ward to inspect the respective schools.
Mumbai: For the first time, surprise inspections are being conducted in all Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run (BMC) schools to examine their state of preparedness for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board examination which will commence from March 1. The inspections are being conducted to make sure the students are well-informed about the process of filing seat number, examination centre number and the question paper (QP) code and how to stick the barcode sticker on the answer booklets.
The civic body’s education department has assigned all the beat officers and administrative officers to every ward to inspect the respective schools. “Private school students do not face problems in understanding how to the fill the first page of answer booklet as they are being taught about this in their coaching class or during the preliminary examination (prelims),” an official from the civic body’s education department said, who is in-charge of the inspections. He continued, “As our students do not go to coaching classes, everything they learn is from the school and the teachers.”
“During the inspection, we will see if the schools have taught the students properly. The officers will randomly ask questions to the students to learn their knowledge. If they are not aware, we will on the spot ask the teachers or the management to explain the process to the students. We don’t want students to waste their time during the examination,” the official added.
