Drugs worth Rs 100 crore seized, 5 men held

NEW DELHI: The sleuths of the Delhi police Special Cell on Tuesday arrested five members, including a British national, of an international drug cartel. The police said that they have recovered drugs, which value around Rs 100 crores in the international market.

So far, this is the Delhi police’s biggest seizure of the drug, which is becoming increasingly popular in the city’s party circuit.

The arrested accused have been identified as Neeraj Arora (43), Rajesh Dutta (45) of the United Kingdom (UK) presently residing in Delhi, Sunil Kumar (33), Lokesh Mehta (25) and Satish Sahu (45).

The accused disclosed that the kingpins of the cartel are Mazhar, a Pakistan national, Amarjeet Bains ,based in London and Jaspreet Singh Dhillon, based in Nepal, the accused arrested used to supply the drugs in India and also used to export the drugs to the UK, Nepal and Malaysia.

DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said they received a tip off regarding a huge consignment of drugs following which technical surveillance was mounted which led to the apprehension of Sunil and Lokesh with 5.275 kgs of party drug, namely Tramadol powder.

“On their instance, huge quantities of party drugs were recovered from the godown situated at Hari Nagar and Satish was also arrested. At the instance of Satish, Neeraj and Rajesh were also arrested. A drug manufacturing and synthesising setup was seized from Neeraj’s house in Old Rajender Nagar,” said the DCP. They used to supply narcotics to their kingpins Mazhar, a Pakistan national based in the UK, said the police.
