Mumbai: The tracks for Metro 7 (Andheri east to Dahisar east) will be laid down by June, said a Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) official. Around 45 per cent of the civil work of the corridor has been completed, with the barricade of the Bandogri area, a 2km stretch, having been removed. The corridor will be open to the public by 2019.

A senior MMRDA official said, “We are expecting to start laying down the tracks for the corridor by June; the tendering process for the tracks has already been started this year.  At the places where the barricading has been removed, we have already started laying curve stone to clear the route for traffic.”

According to the MMRDA, barricades will soon be removed from other sites as well. “Barricades up to 2km have been removed from Bandongri. Further, we are planning to have plantations below the corridor,” the official said.

He added, “We have diverted gas cables up to 1km in several stretches and water pipelines have also been diverted to the tune of 500 to 700 metre.” Meanwhile, stations on line 7 will be constructed on a single pier; the plan is for them to be slimmer as compared to stations of the Andheri Metro.
