Mumbai: Two of the six people inside a car, including a local DJ, died in an accident near Kasarvadavali on Wednesday night after their vehicle turned turtle. The police said the driver was allegedly inebriated, because of which he lost control of the vehicle.

The deceased DJ has been identified as Nikhil Suresh Palan (24).

Police officials said six youngsters had left Wednesday night in a Scorpio car from a hotel in drunk condition. A Kasarvadavali police officer said, “They lost control over the car and rammed into the parking pole opposite Rutu Enclave. The vehicle later turned turtle, killing two people on the spot. Passersby immediately informed police officials and those injured were taken to a hospital.”

The six occupants of the vehicle have been identified as Rahul Sitaram Pawar (22), who was driving the car. He was accompanied by Nikhil Palan, Santosh Mohan Sangvi (26), Ravi Ramdas Bangare (24), Ankit Solanki (24) and Chetan Rajendra Chavan (22), all residents of Wagle estate in Thane.

Pawar was driving the car at full speed when he lost control, a police source said. “The incident took place at around 2.15am on the wee hours of Thursday. They were traveling from Thane towards Ghodbunder road. We got a call from the watchman of Rutu Enclave and we reached the spot. Two of them were dead on the spot,” the source said.

While Chavan and Palan succumbed to injuries, three others are admitted in the ICU at a private hospital in Thane. One person suffered minor injuries.

A case has been registered at Kasarwadavli police station under sections 304 (A), 279, 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code and different sections of the Motor Vehicle Act against the person who was driving the vehicle.
