KDMC engineer attacked by 4 with weapons, case filed
The police said that it had allegedly kept him under surveillance days before he was accosted at around 6 pm.
Mumbai: Four persons attacked an engineer attached to the Kalyan-Dombivali municipal corporation (KDMC) with sharp weapons near Dombivali station on Friday evening.
The assailants, suspected to be hawkers, had their faces covered and left the civic engineer brutally injured with multiple slash wounds. The attack is suspected to be revenge for the crackdown on haphazard hawking.
The engineer was identified as Subhash Patil, who stays in Thane and was headed to Dombivali station when the four assaulters targeted him.
The police said that it had allegedly kept him under surveillance days before he was accosted at around 6 pm.
A scare was created on the crowded walkway when the attack took place. People fled from the vicinity fearing they would get targeted. An officer of the Dombivali police station said, “The attackers were present at the spot on the busy skywalk connecting Dombivali east to the railway station. They came with their faces covered when he was passing by and attacked him with blades and other sharp objects.”
The four fled from the spot after slashing Mr Patil multiple times. Mr Patil contacted his colleagues and infor-med them about the attack. They rushed to the spot and took him to Icon Hospital in Dombivali east where he is undergoing treatment, the police said.
The officials will also record Mr Patil's detailed statement for to help get clarity on the attackers. The police has registered a case against four.
