DMRC invites bids for Metro 2A track's work

Once the contract is awarded, the track laying could begin soon.

Mumbai: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which is executing the Metro 2A (DN Nagar to Dahisar), for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), has invited bids for the laying of the tracks. The work is expected to be completed before the year-end.

Meanwhile, the laying of the tracks for Metro 7 for which tenders were invited a few weeks ago, will begin by July.

The tender notice issued on Monday read, “Supply, installation and commissioning of ballast-less track work for Line 2A corridor ie., Dahisar to Kamraj Nagar, along with the track work up to Charkop Depot.”

Once the contract is awarded, the track laying could begin soon, confirmed a MMRDA official as the civil work for the corridor is nearly 40 per cent complete. MMRDA hopes to start the trial runs by December 2019. “We are expecting to begin the trail runs by December 2019 and six months after the trial runs begin the commercial operations may begin,” said the official.

The 18km long corridor will have 17 elevated stations. additional metropolitan commissioner Pravin Darade recently visited the metro worksites including the line 2A. Mr Darade had directed the officials to speed up the works to meet the deadline.
