MUMBAI: The Mumbai police have issued a notification suggesting alternate routes that can be used by motorists and pedestrians in the light of the fact that the Delisle Bridge-Parel Rail Overbridge (ROB) will remain shut to vehicular and pedestrian movement from 6 am on Tuesday for reconstruction/repair. The Railways instructed the traffic police and the BMC on Sunday to shut the bridge after the IIT-B submitted its detailed findings of technical inspection of the bridge. The Western Railway (WR) asked for the closure of six ROBs including Delisle Bridge.

Amitesh Kumar, joint commissioner of police (traffic) said, “Various diversions are made in the light of the Delisle Bridge closure, and traffic police personnel will be deployed on all junctions to guide the motorists rightly on their way in the peak hours.”

Realising that the closure of the ROB will cause heavy traffic snarls in various other roads, the traffic has been diverted from the Delisle Bridge via Senapati Bapat Marg and NM Joshi Marg. For east-west journey from Lower Parel, motorists will have to use either Elphinstone Road or Mahalaxmi ROB.

The traffic proceeding from Bharat Mata junction to Shingate Master chowk will be diverted towards NM Joshi Marg and from Arthur Road Naka to Shingate Master Chowk on NM Joshi Marg will be diverted to the right turn towards Bharat Mata Junction.

Similarly traffic proceeding from Smt Rohidas Chowk will come straight to Balkrishna Gawade chowk (Wadacha Naka) and Yadav chowk, and will go straight to Rakhangi junction on Senapati Bapat road. The traffic proceeding from Worli Naka to Yadav Chowk on Ganpatrao Kadam Marg shall take a right or left turn at Yadav Chowk for Senapati Bapat Marg.
