Father kills son for opposing his affair'
The police is also recording the statement of family members, including Vicky's younger brother Rocky, who is the complainant in the case.
Mumbai: The police has arrested a 56-year-old man for allegedly shooting dead his 33-year-old son at his residence in Oshiwara on Monday night.
According to the police, the duo had a rocky relationship and a preliminary probe led the police to suspect that the son’s opposition to his father’s alleged extramarital affair had driven the latter to murder. Various other motives are also being investigated, an official said.
The police said that the deceased, Vicky Ganji, was found lying in a pool of blood. Nobody suspicious was seen entering or exiting the building, the police said after checking the CCTV cameras. The police said that Vicky’s father Srinivas Ganji is being thoroughly questioned on the actual motive behind the act.
“On questioning, it was found that Srinivas was the only person at the residence at the time of the incident. However, he claimed that he was on the ground floor of the building when his son was killed. We are ascertaining his claims,” said an officer of Oshiwara police station.
The deceased had recently separated from his wife and was looking for a job. The preliminary probe revealed that the father-son duo allegedly also had fights over several other issues.
Vicky’s family rushed him to a nearby hospital on finding him, where he was declared dead on arrival. He had sustained a bullet wound to his chest, the police said.
