Innovative themed pandals to welcome Elephant God

The popular Andhericha Raja', which has been around for 52 years, too will be sporting an innovative concept this year.

Mumbai: Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, the city mandals are gearing up to welcome their favourite elephant god with innovative themed mandals and decorations. Mandals in the western suburbs especially are experimenting with old palace-type styles while few have opted to depict mythological stories through the décor.

The popular ‘Andhericha Raja’, which has been around for 52 years, too will be sporting an innovative concept this year.

The Azad Nagar Sarvajanic Utsav Samiti, which is Mandal behind this, “For the past 32 years, we have been keeping themes of famous temples so that people can get a feel of that particular temple when they enter our Ganesh pandal,” said a spokesperson from the samiti.

This year, the pandal for ‘Andhericha Raja’ will be modelled on the famous Ballareshwar temple, one among the eight temples of Lord Ganesha. This temple is located at Pali, around 250 kms from Mumbai.
