Mumbai traffic police told to list steps taken against corruption
On Wednesday, advocate Dutta Mane appeared on behalf of Mr Toke and informed the division bench of justice S.C. Dharmadhikari.
Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Wednesday directed the Mumbai traffic police to file an affidavit on complying with the HC order passed in connection with the PIL filed by traffic police constable Sunil Toke alleging corruption in the department.
On Wednesday, advocate Dutta Mane appeared on behalf of Mr Toke and informed the division bench of justice S.C. Dharmadhikari and justice B.H. Dangre that the government pleader was supposed to submit the progress report on compliance with the earlier HC order. The court in August directed the joint commissioner of police (traffic) to file an affidavit with regard to the steps that would be taken to ensure that motorists were not harassed for illegal gratification, among other things.
Following this, a report was submitted but after going through the report, justice Dharmadhikari refused to accept it, saying it did not mention who was taking responsibility for the statements made in the report. He said, “File affidavit through a responsible officer about compliance with our order.”
