Mumbai: Putting all speculations to rest, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has said it would contest both Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in the state.

The party has decided to field candidates in constituencies, where it has its strength.

AAP leader Brigadier Sudhir Sawant said, “The AAP Maharashtra will contest both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Wherever a possibility appears of defeating the BJP, the party will contest the polls.”

Earlier, the party had said that it has decided not to contest in Maharashtra. AAP’s national spokesperson Preeti Sharma Menon had said that the party would fight the Lok Sabha polls in four states - Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Goa, but not in Maharashtra.

However, Mr Sawant said, people are tired of the BJP’s fake announcements and are looking for an alternative.

“The 2019 Lok Sabha election will be a battle between not only of pol-itical coalitions but also personalities,” he said.
