NCP MP likely to be repeated for next term
In that game, the Congress and the communists will be key players.
Mumbai: As the Rajya Sabha election has been announced, sources of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) believe that its incumbent MP, D.P. Tripathi, will likely be repeated for another term.
Two MPs from NCP are retiring and Mr Tripathi is one of them. But as Mr Pawar has started “networking” with all parties ahead of the 2019 general elections, Mr Tripathi could be the person to connect with parties ranging from the left to the centre.
A senior leader of the party said, “With the Samvidhan march in Mumbai this Republic Day, Mr Pawar has given a clear indication of mobilising anti-BJP forces at the centre.
In that game, the Congress and the communists will be key players.
In such a scenario, Mr Tripathi matters even more in getting the communist and socialist forces on board. Therefore, as Nationalist Congress Party will get only one seat in the next elections, the party is likely to repeat him.”
