Mumbai: The state education department has extended the deadline for admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the academic year 2018-19 by one month. Earlier, the deadline was April 4 which has now been extended to May 4, as the department wants to accommodate more and more students this year.

A senior official at the BMC education department said, “Last year, we ended all lottery and admission rounds by April but there were several students who missed out on the opportunity of securing seats under RTE. We have been informed to take up more admissions and more rounds (if needed) to place all the students.”
