Mumbai: The Opposition parties have slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged road show after casting his vote in Gujarat. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) termed it as his “farewell procession” on completion of an “unsuccessful” five-year term.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said in a tweet, “Farewell procession of Mr Modi. People bidding farewell to Mr Modi after his completion of an unsuccessful five-year term where he failed to deliver as PM.” Mr Malik shared a photograph of Mr Modi waving at the crowd, apparently after casting his vote in Gujarat on Tuesday.

The NCP also targeted Mr Modi visiting his mother in Ahmedabad to seek her blessing ahead of casting his vote. Senior party leader Majeed Memon said, “He should spare his mother’s affection from promotional politics.”

The NCP leader took to Twitter Wednesday saying, “A son meeting his mother and seeking blessings has also become an exhibitory and encashable commodity.”

The Congress on Tuesday moved the ECI alleging that PM took out a ‘road show’ after casting his vote and made political remarks, violating the model code of conduct. It also called for imposing a ban on his campaign for two to three days.
