Bombay scottish school meets parents, to install cctv cameras in premises
The washrooms will have a didi' who will be assigned to sit near the washroom for keeping a watch on the children, even on a Saturday.
Mumbai: As an attempt to improve safety in their school, the Bombay Scottish School at Mahim has come up with a few vigilant provisions and methods, following the alleged murder of the seven-year-old student at Ryan International School in Gurugram. Sensing the panic among parents, the school recently had an interaction session with the parents, PTA members and trustees on finding ways to make the school a safer place for the students.
Till now, the school had CCTV cameras in classrooms of 6th standard and above, but now they will have from Kindergarten to 5th standard as well.
The passages, entrances, bathrooms, laboratories, library, grounds and gymnasium area would have cameras installed in them. Along with these, the school said that it would have a ‘dedicated’ person to monitor this footage. The schools will save the footage of up to three weeks. The washrooms will have a ‘didi’ who will be assigned to sit near the washroom for keeping a watch on the children, even on a Saturday.
The bus drivers and the security guards will have a separate washroom in the school premises. The school will conduct detailed police verification for all its staff and workers. Moreover, any domestic worker brought in for plumbing or repair work will be allowed to enter the school, only after school hours, unless there is an emergency.
