MU Law academy extends helping hand to students

Mumbai: Law students who wish to apply for diploma and postgraduate courses will now be considered even though their results are stuck in the revaluation process. This is because of the Law Academy at University of Mumbai (MU) can take independent decisions to extend date unlike for other courses. The academy has already considered the cases of 20 students who approached the high court on provisional basis. Apart from this, they have already extended the dates of PG admissions because of the result delay mess.

Under the Law Academy courses like LLM and all the Postgraduate courses of Law operate. For the PG admissions, 10 students fall in merit on the basis of their ranking in the LLM entrance exam.

According to the head of the department, Rashmi Oza, the list is categorised in six groups out of which one is slotted as ‘court case provisional’. This is for the students who had approached the high court in regards to their result being delayed and the court had accepted their request.   

“We have allowed the students to fill the form and submit the documents but we are not accepting their fees as it made no sense in case they failed. If we take the fees, it will be like breaching the rules of the University. We did not deny any admission as its not the students fault,” said Ms Oza. This will be applicable for the LLM students.

The initial deadline to fill the form was October 18 but the Law Academy extended it in order to give fair chance to all the students suffering due to the delay in results.
