The protests will continue on Thursday as well as the Maharashtra Rajya Rashtriya Kamgar Sangh (MRRKS) said that the stir would only be called off after the demands of the cab drivers were fulfilled. He also said that they were getting good response from cab drivers from Pune, Dhule and other parts of the state. Meanwhile, Ola and Uber did not respond to any queries.

MRRKS secretary, Sunil Borkar said, “The next course of action would be decided after meeting the Nationalist Congress Party Mumbai chief Sachin Ahir on Thursday.  He claimed that 95 per cent of the cars were off the road on the third day of the strike. The cabs which were still seen plying were those belonging to Ola, Uber brokers.

The city has around 50,000 app-based cars. The drivers of the cars were demanding that a minimum base fare be fixed between Rs 100-150 depending on the range of the cars, while the per kilometre fare should be fixed between Rs 18 to Rs 23.

Kamya Sharma, who was travelling from Thane to BKC, said,” It was very difficult to book an Ola cab on Wednesday morning. It took me 15 minutes to book the cab, something which generally takes five minutes. Also I had to pay Rs 800 today, which is double of what I pay on a normal day, ie Rs 400.”

Ashish Trimukhe, a marketing professional, who was travelling from Ghatkopar to BKC, said that he was unable to book a cab on either Ola or Uber despite several attempts.
