Film personalities sought call record data, says police

Mumbai: Following some leads during the interrogation from the arrested accused in the CDR racket recently, the Thane Police’s Crime Branch have received information of some film personalities who may have sought the CDR of some persons.

The officer refused to divulge the names stating that it would hamper the probe but confirmed that the questioning of the film personalities would be done soon.

Investigation officer of the case said, “We have received details about some CDRs which were requested by some people from the film industry. We are yet to interrogate them about the reason why they wanted this CDRs.”

The Thane crime branch has recently arrested a constable of the Yavatmal police station in the Call Data Records (CDR) leak case on Thursday.

The accused identified as Nitin Khawade (29) was involved with one of the arrested detectives, and was handling the government paperwork.

The crime branch twice summoned the constable but he didn’t respond and was planning to flee the city. According to police, this is 11th arrest in the case since the crime branch busted the racket earlier this month.

Police have already arrested many accused from Thane district. Later Rajani Pandit — an Indian private investigator who is regarded as the first woman private investigator of Maharashtra was also arrested in CDR case .
