Student exam information labels by Mumbai University
Matching both the details will help in tagging the answer papers to the right teachers.
Mumbai: The University of Mumbai (MU) has introduced ‘Students Examination Information’ labels or stickers for this year’s summer examination. These labels will have the name of the student, examination subject, course and year, parents’ name, examination centre code and question paper code on them, which will be stuck to the answer sheet, thus making it easier to tag the papers to the correct teacher.
In the previous examinations the teachers were seen complaining about getting the wrong subject/course question paper in their computers for assessment. For example, an Economics teacher received Banking papers due to a technical glitch in the system.
Once this label is stuck on the answer paper, the OSM will scan the label and transfer the information into the system, which will help in matching the information with the teacher’s information. The system will already have the database of all the teachers – their assessing subject and language. Matching both the details will help in tagging the answer papers to the right teachers.
This way, according to Dr. Arjun Ghatule, Controller and Director of Board of Examination and Evaluation (BoEE), will avoid tagging wrong papers to the teachers and speeding up the assessment procedure. MU officials hope to curb the wrong tagging at least in the ongoing summer examination in 2018, as the previous two examinations saw too many tagging trouble faced by the teachers leading to several mistakes.
