Uddhav Thackeray slams free Internet promises
He addressed a meeting in which he slammed the state government.
Mumbai: Slamming promises of free Internet in ‘Digital India’, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said that instead of digital India, the government should give free petrol, diesel, milk and food grains in the ration shops.
Mr Thackeray addressed the meeting of local cable operators, who claim that Reliance’s Jio is hurting their business. He supported cable operators and assured them in a meeting at Rangsharda that their business would be protected.
Cable operators are opposing to Jio’s Internet and TV channels telecasting offers. Due to cheaper rates, people will get attracted to it, which will affect the business of thousands of cable operators. These operators met Mr Thackeray and he extended full support to them. He addressed a meeting in which he slammed the policies of the government.
Mr Thackeray said, providing free Internet cannot help the poor. Petrol-Diesel, milk, fruits, food grains in the ration shops should be given free. He said Sena is ready to fight if business of the cable operators are disturbed.
