Sheena Bora murder trial: Rai again sends letter to court

Mumbai: Accused-turned-approver Shyamvar Rai has once again sent a letter to the special CBI court conducting trial in the 2012 Sheena Bora murder case, following which, the court has directed jail authorities to produce him in court next week. The content of the letter is known only to the court. Earlier, Rai had written a letter to the court from jail seeking bail and his application is yet to be decided.

Special CBI Judge J.C. Jagdale noted that a letter had been received from Rai for production before the court. The Judge allowed the request and directed the Thane Central Jail, where Rai is lodged, to produce him before the court on October 29.

Though the exact content of the letter was not revealed, an official said that it was regarding Rai’s bail only.

It may be recalled that in April this year, Rai had written a single-page bail application in Hindi and sent it to the court through the jail authorities. In his application, Rai had said that he wanted to be released on bail so that he could support his family. After appearing before the court, he had claimed that he was the sole earning member of the family and without him, the family was suffering a lot so he should be released on bail so that he could secure a job and earn for his family.

As per the prosecution case, Sheena Bora was murdered on April 24, 2012. As per the charge sheet, Peter Mukerjea was in London at the time of incident but was allegedly involved in the murder conspiracy and Indrani Mukerjea, too, was in the United Kingdom and came to Mumbai a few days before the murder.
