Mumbai: Shiv Sena on Monday questioned the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government’s allegations about Pakistan’s involvement in the Gujarat polls. The Sena hoped that with BJP now having come to power in Gujarat, the allegations were not just a poll plank. The party was referring to the PM’s allegations against Congress leaders, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

In an editorial in its mouthpiece Saamana, the Sena said, “A question about Pakistan’s involvement in the Gujarat polls is still unanswered. What happened to it? Was it an election plank? But we hope that the martyrs in Kashmir are not made a plank. After BJP has come to power in Gujarat, the allegations have been forgotten. However, Pakistan’s attacks have increased in Kashmir and our soldiers are being killed. If the country’s security is busy gaining power and winning elections, who will save the country?” The editorial comes a day after major Prafulla Moharkar was killed by Pakistani forces.

The Sena claimed that soon after the BJP won 99 seats in Gujarat, Pakistan began targeting Kashmir and that Pakistan soldiers flouted norms. “Along with Marathi major Moharkar, three others were killed. It is true that the Indian army gave a befitting reply to Pakistan. But what about the martyrs here?” the Sena questioned.

The Sena also questioned the conviction of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam even as the accused in the 2G spectrum scam were acquitted. “The fodder scam was serious and the accused should be punished. But the common people have some doubts. If Jharkhand’s former chief minister Madhu Koda gets punished in the coal scam and Lalu’s involvement in the fodder scam is proven, why then are the accused in the 2G scam set free! In fact, it was BJP that raised the 2G scam issue,” the Sena said.
