RTI: MU spends Rs 7.44 Lakh on senate election
He claimed that it took almost nine months to get a reply to his query.
Mumbai: The Mumbai University (MU) has spent Rs 7.44 lakhs on the election of 10 registered graduate candidates to the senate body, as per a Right to Information (RTI) query filed by activist Anil Galgali. Of this, Rs 5.65 lakhs have been shown as expense towards travel and advertisement by the varsity.
Mr Galgali, through his RTI application dated March 27, 2018, asked the university to provide details of all expenses incurred towards election of 10 registered graduates to its senate committee. He claimed that it took almost nine months to get a reply to his query.
Rajendra Ambawade, deputy vice-chancellor of the finance and accounts department, MU, informed Mr Galgali that the election of 10 registered graduates to the senate committee had cost Rs 7.44 lakh, out of which, Rs 3.22 lakh had been spent on travel while rs 2.43 lakh had been spent on advertising. Furthermore, Rs 68,810 had been spent on software, while Rs 16,638 had been spent on refilling the toner, Rs 20,500 on decorations, Rs 3,330 on training and vote counting, and finally, Rs 69,990 on hospitality.
