Train rams into dead-end at CSMT
Due to the impact of the collision the alignment of the coach was affected, said sources.
Mumbai: A Belapur-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) local train dashed into a dead-end at CSMT railway station on Friday. However, no injuries have been reported in the incident.
The train hit the buffer crossing the halt point on platform number 1 of the CSMT station. According to sources, due to the impact of the collision the alignment of the coach was affected.
As per the Central Railway (CR) chief public relation officer (CPRO), Sunil Udasi, no damage and injury had been reported. “It’s a minor accident due to some technical reason. The situation is normal and under control,” he said. Confirming the incident he said, “A local train has touched the buffer at CSMT.”
However, the railways said that the train services resumed soon after the incident, which took place at around 11.30 am. The railways also said that buffers have been put in place for this reason. The CR officials have initiated an inquiry in this regard, ordered a probe and its report is expected in couples of weeks.
Whereas, two similar incidents had been reported in the year 2015. A train had crashed into the buffer at platform number 5 of the CSMT station at 2.25 am. Though no one was injured, the accident delayed CR services by 20 minutes. In the same year, another local train had rammed into the dead end at Churchgate railway station, leaving a woman seriously injured.
