Teen stabbed to death near college over girl

The police suspects that the murder took place allegedly over a girl whom the accused and the victim liked.

Mumbai: Three persons stabbed a 17-year-old boy to death after calling him outside his college in Bhandup around 9.20 am on Thursday. The accused requested the teenager, Sushilkumar Verma, to walk with them about 100 meters from the campus before stabbing him twice in the chest and assaulting him. They then fled. The police suspects that the murder took place allegedly over a girl whom the accused and the victim liked.

A murder case has been registered, and the Bhandup police arrested two persons, whose names have been withheld.

Verma, who was studying in Smt Ramkalidevi Sanman Singh Vidya Mandir & Junior College, was rushed to a public hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The police swung into action and, based on eyewitness accounts and other details about the suspects, identified a few persons.

“We have detained two persons,” said Srinivas Panhale, senior inspector of Bhandup police station.

All the parties involved are stated to be studying in the same college.

The preliminary probe in the case revealed that the murder took place over a girl and the gruesome murder was allegedly hatched to teach Verma a lesson.

The police is now recording the statement of his the deceased’s friends to ascertain what culminated in the recent past leading to the crime.

According to the police, the investigation into the murder is underway.

The police are checking CCTV footage from the college campus and surrpunding areas to ascertain what happened and to further their investigation in the murder case.
