NCP leaders kick off phase 3 of outreach plan
This move is being seen as the party stepping up its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party-Sena government.
Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has begun the third phase of its programme of reaching out to people in the state in preparation for next year’s Lok Sabha and Assembly polls. Party leader and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar addressed a rally of youth workers from Marathwada in Aurangabad on Wednesday.
The NCP’s women’s wing also held programmes in Kolhapur and Nagpur. The party has tasked the chiefs of its frontal cells to visit every district of the state in the next two months. This move is being seen as the party stepping up its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party-Sena government.
Meanwhile, Mr Pawar addressed a rally along with Opposition leader in the Legislative Council, Dhananjay Munde, kicking off his Marathwada tour, where he plans to reach out to farmers and youth from the region. While Mr Pawar was in Marathwada, the party’s women’s wing chief Chitra Wagh reached Vidarbha for her two-week tour of the region, where she plans to visit every district. The party’s other women leaders, like MLC Vidya Chavan and former minister Fouzia Khan staged a protest at their ‘Save Constitution’ yatra in Kolhapur.
The party has also asked the chief of all its frontal cells to plan programme in every region. They have been asked to visit every district in the state over the two months. Not just that, the party’s MP Supriya Sule will also undertake a two-week yatra in North Maharashtra from October 2.
