Mumbai: The Irla-based Papillon restaurant will soon file a case against the woman who alleged that there was rat in her sambar and circulated a video of the same on social media. The restaurant says her claims are baseless. Social media was flooded when Falguni Somaiya shared a video of a dead rat floating in the sambar at the Pappilon restaurant on Thursday.

The restaurant owners have decided to file a case against her for Ms Somaiya for defaming them. Earlier, this paper had reported that the restaurant owners had said that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had registered a complaint and are investigating the matter. FDA commissioner Pallavi Darade told The Asian Age, “We have received a complaint against the restaurant and have taken samples for checking. Appropriate action will be taken against the restaurant if they are found to be at fault.”

Prakash Shetty, owner of the restaurant said, “We, at Pappilon, were the target of a publicity stunt conducted by a regular customer. After a food delivery on November 23, she walked into the restaurant and started complaining there was a rat in the idli-sambar served by us.” He added, “She took a video of the rat in the sambar despite us saying that it was impossible for such a thing to happen. To our surprise she never complained to the police.”

“We have filed a NC against her and will soon be filling a case against her. We wanted to put this incident across to all our valued customers who have been eating at Pappilon Fast Food Corner for decades. The video that has gone viral is nothing but a publicity stunt,” added Mr Shetty.
