Modi has misled people on cost of projects: Congress
PM Modi had said at his rally on Saturday that projects worth Rs 1.06 lakh crore were launched in a single city at a single event.
Mumbai: The Congress has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that the projects he inaugurated on Saturday were worth Rs 1.06 lakh crore is nothing but a hoax. The opposition party has claimed that the amount isn’t anything more than Rs 44,00 crore. The Congress has called Modi’s claim a political gimmick that misleads the poor.
“The PM announced various projects with an eye on the civic polls, including several Metro projects, the cost of which is not more than Rs 44,000 crore,” said Sanjay Nirupam, president, Mumbai Congress.
According to the Congress, the Prime Minister has misled the common man and has lied to the people so that he can reap political benefits for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls. “The PM has lied by saying that the total cost of the projects is over Rs 1 lakh crore, and the statement was made only with an eye on the upcoming BMC polls,” Mr Nirupam said.
He went on to criticise the police action against him, wherein he was kept under house arrest on Saturday. He had planned a silent march on the same day next to the venue in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) where Mr Modi inaugurated the projects.
Mr Nirupam claimed that the police action against Congress workers created an atmosphere of terror. The Congress workers had no plans of disrupting the PM’s rally at BKC, but the police detained them on chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’s orders, he alleged.
Mr Modi had on Saturday laid the foundation stones for many key infrastructure projects, including the Mumbai Trans-harbour Link, and two Metro projects.
Mr Modi had said at his rally on Saturday, “Developmental works of over Rs 1.06 trillion are being started in a single city at a single event. This will be a big milestone in the city’s history.”
