Six women booked for assaulting policemen

A FIR has been lodged against the women under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Mumbai: A group of six women has been booked for allegedly assaulting some policemen in Bhiwandi on Friday afternoon, when the latter had gone to arrest a man in connection with a cheating case registered at Oshiwara police station. The police team had gone to arrest Kamar Ali Jaffri, after receiving a tip-off about his location. However, in an attempt to let Jaffri escape, the women allegedly assaulted the personnel. A FIR has been lodged against the women under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A FIR was lodged against the women at Shanti Nagar police station and they have been booked under IPC sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty).
