Fourth arrest made inmissing lady cop case

The fourth arrest in the case, Mahesh Phalankikar, is a childhood friend of Kurundkar and was allegedly in touch.

Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai police has made a fresh arrest — the fourth so far — in the API Ashwini Bidre kidnapping and murder case of April 2016. Earlier, the police had arrested PI Abhay Kurundkar, her live-in partner, and his driver. 

The fourth arrest in the case, Mahesh Phalankikar, is a childhood friend of Kurundkar and was allegedly in touch with him at the time Bidre went missing. 

Earlier, the police arrested Kundan Bhandari (51), the driver of Kurundkar, 52, senior inspector with the security branch of Thane (rural) police. 

A police source said, “During investigation with the driver, the police has received information about one more friend of Kurundkar who was in touch with him during the period when Bidre went missing. Kurundkar was arrested on December 7.
