However, with the opposition shouting slogans, the house was later adjourned for the whole day.
Mumbai: The leader of the opposition, Dhananjay Munde, has slammed the government for the alleged failure of the farm loan waiver scheme and deficiencies in aid to hailstorm affected farmers.
Mr Munde alleged that while doing the panchnamas, farmers were asked to take name tags like criminals. After the uproar over the farm loan waiver and other agrarian issues, the legislative council was adjourned on Tuesday.
Raising farmers’ issues, Mr Munde demanded discussions. He said that while chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced figures of the loan waiver and incentives given to farmers, when contacted, farmers said it hadn’t reached them yet.
He said that the government had not given aid to farmers who lost their crops due to the hailstorm and other reasons. Due to the commotion, the chairman adjourned the work of the house for 20 minutes initially. However, with the opposition shouting slogans, the house was later adjourned for the whole day.
