City to protest lynching incident in Bandra today

Mumbai: A Facebook post protesting against the murder of a teenager, Junaid (16), who was allegedly stabbed to death onboard a Mathura-bound train by by a group of men, who targeted the victim and his companions on religious grounds, has spawned an online campaign, ‘Not In My Name,’ with protest marches being organised in five cities on Wednesday. Arpita Chatterjee has initiated the same in city and called out to all Mumbaikars for their support at Carter Road promenade, Bandra.

Protests will be held in Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad,Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru simultaneously on Wednesday, said filmmaker Saba Dewan. Junaid’s family will join protestors at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

Speaking to The Asian Age, Ms Chatterjee, a social activist, said, “We are just a few people whose hearts are bleeding at the way humanity is under attack in the name of religion.”
