Gang robs woman of ornaments

Mumbai: A notorious gang, nicknamed the Bol-Bachchan (glib talkers) gang, is striking at will in Mira-Bhayandar. Less than 24 hours after it robbed an elderly woman in Bhayandar, two members of the gang targeted a senior citizen and relieved her of gold ornaments worth '90,000 in Mira Road.

According to the FIR registered, the crime took place in the Shanti Nagar area of Mira Road at around 1:15 pm on Monday, when the senior citizen, identified as Kalpana Patil, was returning from a nearby temple.

Two men posing as cops, under the pretext of asking an address, initially engaged her in a devotional discussion and later asked her to remove her ornaments.

The woman complied and the encounter ended with her being cheated of her gold chain and bangles worth Rs 90,000. A case under has been registered under Section 170 and 420 of the IPC against the unidentified duo at the Naya Nagar police station.

An investigating team is trying to procure footage's of the CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the crime scene to ascertain the identity of the two accused.
