Ekbote externed from Koregaon
Milind Ekbote has been issued notice under 144, 144(2)- 58, CRPC 107-188, CRPC 110-29.
Pune: In a bid to maintain law and order and avoid a repeat of the last year’s incidents, the Pune rural police has issued notices to many people, including Milind Ekbote, the prime accused in the riots took place last year, asking them to stay away from the four villages of Bhima-Koregoan, Vadhu Budruk, Perne Phata and Sanasvadi on December 31 and January 1.
Sandip Pakhale, additional SP, said, “58 people have been asked not to enter this area under CrPC 144. 188 people have been detained under CrPC 107 and 29, while habitual offenders have been kept in custody under CrPC 110. Milind Ekbote has been issued notice under 144, 144(2)- 58, CRPC 107-188, CRPC 110-29.”
Sadashiv Shelar, police inspector of Shikrapur, under whose jurisdiction the four riot-affected villages fall, said “People, who have a history of creating nuisance or causing communal tension, have been asked to stay away from Vadhu Budruk, Perne Phata, Bhima-Koregoan and Sanasvadi villages. We cannot reveal the names but they all have earlier such records. To avoid what happened last year, we have taken this precaution.” He also said that internet services would be shut down on December 31 and January 1 in Shikrapur and Shirur Taluka.
Meanwhile, Naval Kishor Ram, collector, Pune, said, “We have moved an application before the Bombay high court to take possession of land around war memorial at Bhima-Koregoan for two days, December 31 and January 1. The court has allowed us to take possession of the land, which belongs to the local villagers and will be returned to them the next day. We have taken this precaution to maintain law and order, and to avoid any untoward incident.”
